Rail in the West

Pape_Avenue_looking_west_1926The first westward bound railroad in the United States was built between Baltimore and the Ohio River in Virginia in 1827 by horses walking on a treadmill, then they changed to the steam engine in 1829.

The talk of Transcontinental Railroad started in the 1830’s after the railroads began their large scale operation in the United States, then they started setting it in Mexico and they moved into California. At first, they thought it wouldn’t work out and they shouldn’t build the railroad, but they decided to build it and avoided the Rockies by going to Texas to Los Angles and then they moved on to make rail tracks in the United states.
